What We Are
MACA is making a difference in the fight against cancer
Our Story
Move Against Cancer Africa was established in 2009 as Stand up to Cancer Naija. Founded by Mr. Caleb Egwuenu and a small group of passionate and aspiring cancer advocates, they had recognized the pressing need to address the burgeoning challenges in cancer care in Nigeria. The goal was to create an organization aimed at tirelessly advocating for cancer care and effecting a positive change in the way cancer is viewed by the average Nigerian. The early years were marked by tireless work, building partnerships, and laying the foundation for impactful interventions. The dedication of the founding team, combined with strategic partnerships and an unwavering belief in the mission propelled the project forward.
In 2017, Stand up to Cancer Naija became Move Against Cancer Africa, as the team realized the need to expand the reach of their impact beyond just Nigeria. Over the years, MACA has undergone a transformative evolution, expanding its scope, refining its strategies and amplifying its impact.
At the heart of MACA’s mission lies a steadfast commitment to elevating cancer care standards across the African Continent. The Mission is to help create an Africa where cancer will no longer be considered a death sentence. The aim is to achieve this through well crafted people focused programs in the area of Advocacy, Awareness, Screening for Early Detection, Prevention, Patient Support, Cancer Education, Research and Treatment.
MACA is geared to break the norm and disrupt the whole spectrum in the Cancer Control and Oncology World.
